The Sundays River flows at the foot of the lodge, offering sweeping river views from the lodge's decks and a perfect backdrop to an all-South African experience of big five game viewing, river activities such as safe swimming, canoes river cruises or fishing are offered. Watch the sun go down over the river and dune fields from the beach at the river mouth. All the luxuries expected of a 4 Star graded establishment. Both the owners are nature/game guides to Addo Elephant National Park, and in keeping with their love for nature, the lodge is run as eco-friendly facility. The owners/managers are qualified game/nature guides, and offer a guided African safari experience into the Addo Elephant Park and activities in the Addo Area in general. Although it is just a recommendation, allow at least three days to get to know the Addo Area. Dungbeetle River Lodge is situated alongside the largest coastal sand dune field in the southern hemisphere. The seemingly endless and beautiful dunes make for excellent hiking to the sea. Interact with them yourself by riding them and feeding them, then you watch their trainer put them through their paces. Afternoon and evening safaris on private game reserves. Dungbeetle River Lodge has its own jetty for fishing and boating enthusiasts. Bicycles are made available, for those who enjoy the outdoors. Over 200 bird species have been identified in this area, and trips up the river can be arranged for twitchers.
