Lanyon was launched in 1994 in the heart of the South African automotive manufacturing world, Uitenhage. This company began on its road to success on a small scale, with Basil being focussed on the customising of electronics. However, we soon extended its scope far beyond the realms of circuit boards. We have grown and developed to such an extent that we are the only South African company offering many of the measurement-related solutions that are on our current portfolio. Since we began almost 20 years ago, Lanyon has welcomed a number of different people on board as part of our team. By incorporating their very specialised skills and abilities into our products and services, we have successfully formulated brand new methods and products to satisfy the requirements of our client. Each person on our team has his own talents and is passionate about different parts of the industry. This means that they each bring a unique element and an undeniable value to Lanyon and our clients. Working for industry leaders, such as Goodyear, Bridgestone, Luk Africa and the SABC, has given Lanyon the edge in terms of having to develop innovative, state-of-the-art solutions to cater to our unique customers’ various challenges. As such, he has a keen understanding of our clients and exactly what they need and demand. He has a Masters’ Degree in Electrical Engineering and specialises in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and embedded electronics. This requires an overall understanding of the machine into which these parts are embedded, the way that it works and the function is fulfils. Basil is also responsible for client liaison and project overview. Antonie’s Masters Degree In Mechatronics has put him in good stead to handle most of the technical details of each project. Antonie is a partner in Lanyon and, therefore, invests his passion and energies into each initiative. He deals with the analogue interfacing required to ensure that each job is successful.
