New shareholders have joined the company bringing the total black ownership of the company to 84%. In addition to providing consulting services for conventional civil engineering projects, the company specialises in implementation of community-based projects using labour intensive methods. It also has a focus on appropriate technology, especially in water supply and sanitation delivery. The company has offices in Port Elizabeth, Richard s Bay and East London. The company has enjoyed steady growth and in August 2011, opened a sister company in Maseru, Lesotho to handle work in that country as part of its strategic expansion into the SADC region. While local capacity is being developed, the Lesotho company has access to all the resources and experience of the parent company. In 2012 the company acquired a majority share in Makhetha Environmental Consultants, An environmental consulting company based In East London (South Africa). The company has very highly qualified and experienced staff in the fields, among others, of Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Authorisations, Compliance Monitoring and Evaluation and community involvement. The company’s involvement in the Independent Development Trust (IDT) Capital Subsidy Scheme in the East Rand in Gauteng and in 6 areas of the Northwest Province, as well as the Transnet Housing Project at Esselen Park near Tembisa made it possible to gain some experience in the provision of housing and social services for low to medium income communities. In this field the company uses its community participation and construction management skills, and draws on the housing field to provide fully participative and integrated solutions. The company is also involved in the provision of housing and housing related infrastructure in Walmer O and various other areas within the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality. We provide appropriate solutions for Urban and rural water supply. Our solutions are designed with the client community in mind and the most appropriate solutions are chosen. Management and maintenance of the facilities are considered during the design. The company offers services in the planning, investigations, design and construction monitoring of both conventional and community based water supply systems. The services cover source identification and development demand forecasting, water treatment and water distribution. The company has links with specialists and specialist organisations in the water supply sector to be able to offer clients a comprehensive one stop service for all the water supply requirements. The company places high emphasis on community involvement and job creation and is therefore committed to ensuring maximum community involvement in all projects. Designs and implementation methods are made to accommodate this as a priority.
