Since 1983, we have built homes for people across South Africa and now in Namibia. We’ve also built schools, emergency centres, shopping malls, office blocks and warehouses to improve lifestyles and grow businesses. We’ve constructed roads and structures for municipalities, developers, farmers, film studios and golf estates. We did the taxiways and runways at OR Tambo, Cape Town and East London airports and supplied the infrastructure for five wind farms. Today the Power Group operates across Southern Africa from regional offices in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Centurion and Swakopmund (Namibia). The Power Group enjoys a rich history and has celebrated many milestones along the way, some of these include the opening of new offices, company growth and expansion and in 2007 the streamlining of all 12 subsidiary businesses to create The Power Group as it is known today. Graham Power starts the company, with one second-hand bakkie, three casual labourers and administrative help from his wife, Lauren. Becomes one of the leading developers of subsidised housing and turnkey developments. Another regional office, this time in Port Elizabeth, starts with a project to build schools throughout the Eastern Cape. One of the first emerging companies associated with the group, it is soon recognised as a major emerging contractor in the Western Cape. Another successful emerging partnership, started to service the Eastern Cape. At a workshop held in January 2001, the board of directors announced the implementation of a process towards the establishment of a Code of Ethics for the Power Group. A specialist company, focusing on the construction of residential and commercial buildings. Another regional office opened in Centurion, to set the platform for the group to extend its services into Africa. Nikamandla Construction becomes the fourth empowerment company associated with the group; with two employees from previously disadvantaged groups retaining a joint 51% shareholding. The group was rationalised and streamlined from 12 companies into two: Power Construction and Power Developments. As part of the Siyavaya Joint Venture, awarded work Package A, Package E and Package H, with the goal to complete for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Involvement in subsidised housing expanded to incorporate the idea of turnkey projects.
