RV Smith have been active members of the Master Builders Association since 1953 and Gordon Smith has spent nine years on the executive committee of this association and spent three of those as Chairman. RV Smith is a service orientated company where the needs of the client enjoys top priority. We advise and assist architects, engineers and quantity surveyors on best practice solutions in industrial roofing. We are an East London based construction company that provides professional and specialist services which include; industrial roofing, factory maintenance, domestic roofing, insulation, waterproofing, fire damage prevention, minor alterations, constructions, skylights, patios, ceilings and partitions! Following his work on various specialised projects in the country, he opened his own company in This company soon became reputable and was responsible for the Mazista slate roofing of many Eastern Cape landmarks such as the SA Perm buildings both in East London and Queenstown, Stirling Primary School, Baysville Secondary School and other domestic roofing projects in the area, as well as the City Baptist Church in Oxford Street and the Stirling Baptist Church in Drake Road. His company was involved in the roofing and cladding of the grain elevator on the West Bank, the Orient Theatre, Berkshire, Rambler Nash, Cecelia Makiwane Hospital in Mdantsane and many other factories in the area. Vic was later joined in the company by his eldest son, Gordon (in 1967), and his youngest son, Stuart (in 1972). Gordon and Stuart Smith took over the company in 1985 when their dad retired, and together they developed R.V. Smith moved to their current premises in Park Close, North End and subsequently opened a ceilings and partitions division. Smith cc opened a branch in Port Elizabeth, which now operates as far south as Jeffreys Bay as well as in several other inland towns. Smith cc have been members of the East London Master Builders Association since establishment in Gordon has served on the Executive Committee for the past 9 years, serving two of these years as Chairman of the association. We are also members of AAAMSA and the Border Kei Chamber of Business since 1981.
