PRAYER FOCUS: In order for leaders to move in authority to effect God’s rule they need to understand that spiritual warfare is involved in each domain. WORKLIFE FOCUS: To encourage and support local churches to equip their people to minister in the workplace and together with like minded colleagues to be the salt and the light in what is the biggest mission field in the world. NETWORK STRATEGY: To enhance the combined spiritual power and intellectual capacity of our leaders, in order to motivate them to accept responsibility to bring about radical change. What, in your view, are the THREE most important things that can be done to improve the quality of life of the people in the Ward in which your Church is located? A number of meetings were held, and out of these consultations came a call for a Nelson Mandela Bay Consultation of Christian Churches to be launched. To create a body inclusive of the whole church spectrum which could promote and serve Christian unity and church cooperation\. To set up a network to enable various leaders to communicated with and support each other. While trust is important, one should not, at first, be too dogmatic about it. In working together from two opposite sides, individuals on both sides need to have humble hearts. The vital thing to remember is that each group of people has its own way of thinking, of what works best for that group. Each group also needs to feel that its thinking is being acknowledged. The work done in cooperation with a group that has different ways of doing things, will always be loaded with uncertainty. The biggest challenge working across cultural, class and economic boundaries lies in taking people from one’s own group with you. If you are the only one crossing the line, you have not accomplished much. Even when things go wrong, relationships are always more important than having everything running smoothly. In working with people from another culture, time is a crucial factor. People from the advantaged side is often advantaged because they live ordered and planned lives, lives in which time is utilised to the maximum. Their view of the importance of time often overshadows the more disadvantaged way of valuing relationships as much more important than time. Dialogue is the way through which individuals find meaning and significance. This faith implies knowing man as a creative person with a capacity for original thinking and acting, for bringing into being things that can change the world. Dialogue built on faith, humility and love must lead towards trust. Trust is put under threat when people’s words and actions do not match. For him the challenge is not to adapt to the situation, but always to seek new ways of transforming it. The transformation of society and the humanization of men remains the objective of dialogue.
