Nestled in the leafy suburb of Walmer, Port Elizabeth, Theodor Herzl has a reputation for doing things differently; for building confidence and excellence. Our Pre-Primary School pupils had a lot of fun showing off their beautiful creations. These are the inspiring words of pioneering Zionist author Theodor Herzl. In 1962, Theodor Herzl moved to its sprawling current site in Walmer, housing all three schools. It has continued to thrive for more than half a century and is today one of South Africa’s top independent co-educational schools, with a significant academic record. Although its community has become largely multi-cultural, it retains its Jewish heritage and flavour. She served as Head of Department for some years before being appointed Principal in Born and raised in the Eastern Cape, and educated at DSG in Grahamstown, Buffy earned her HDE Pre-Primary at Barkly House Teachers Training College in Cape Town. Buffy is remedially qualified (ACE Special Needs Education, UNISA) and an executive member of SAALED (South African Association for Learning and Educational Differences). Her remarkable insight into the unique and individual needs of early learners adds exceptional value to the school. Aside from her real caring for the welfare of each child who take his or her tentative leap into their school career at Theodor Herzl, Buffy is also an adored mum to her own three girls.
