In my peer group, we were inspired by visionary leaders like Martin Luther King. We believed in the power of imagination and we were the generation that put jeans and bacpack travel on the global map. He was the one who made me aware of career politics. The projects taught me a lot beyond organization cultures, structures and procedures: they showed me the huge impact of the individual. Often empowering the one individual with leadership potential restores the performance of the whole group. Often solving the problems of one individual, prevents the breakdown of a whole group. Yet many people’s desperate circumstances, all the social and economic challenges, are a constant appeal to make things better and bring about change. It is an amazing experience to start a fresh where you know nobody. Authentic Speaking and Presenting Workshop The course was WONDERFUL! Dr Janin is the only practitioner of biographical coaching in South Africa. Her unique brand of coaching combines organisational development, medical and industrial sociology and biographical counselling. The researchers usually describe a comprehensive need for overall guidance in their research design: from pinpointing the focus and main research questions for their project, to choosing and applying methods and techniques, followed by how to describe and analyse the collected data. Positioning our business in the bigger landscape and defining our marketing strategies is obviously important at the start, but it’s by no means a once-off activity. We have to do follow ups, because our business takes shape over time and may morph in unexpected ways, and also the bigger picture around our business undergoes change. To belong to a business network like our BNI Chapter, one that represents a diversity of business, is a real help in staying in touch with what is going on around us.
